Meet the Team

Galeed House has a board of trustees and is largely run by a team of volunteers. Here are some people who have specific roles.

Amer Amran

Outreach Worker

Amer Joined Galeed House in 2014. Having grown up in Pakistan he speaks Urdu as well as English. His role is to promote the work of Galeed in the Darnall community and beyond.

Fran Hall


Fran began volunteering with the Women’s English team at Galeed House in early 2023. She took on the role of Administrator in April 2024. Fran has a passion for empowering minority groups to have a voice.

Jono Chamberlain

Chair of Trustees

Jono was a volunteer teacher of English to men from 2017 – 2019. Having lived in several Asian countries he enjoys relating to people from other cultures. He has served as Chair of Trustees since 2018. 

Sally Hall

Women’s Work Leader, Trustee and Safeguarding Lead

Sally has been involved at Galeed House for 15 years with the ladies group and enjoys getting to know people who live locally and being part of the community here. She works part time as a doctor.

Jonathon Neme

Men’s English Teacher

Jonathon is an American living in the UK. He previously lived and worked in Jordan and has a passion for connecting with people from other cultures.

Fiona Thevasagayam

Women’s English Teacher

Fiona has volunteered with Galeed since 2017. She is a languages teacher by background and spent several years working on literacy projects in Bangladesh. She enjoys meeting new people, learning about different cultures and practising Bengali with women at Galeed.

Sam Nelson Piercy

Girls Club Leader

Sam has volunteered at Galeed House for several years, first serving on the Women’s English Team before helping to re-establish the Girls’ club in 2018. She works as a secondary school teacher during the week and enjoys using her experience with teenagers to get alongside the girls at Galeed House.

Mike Thomas

Kids Club Leader & Trustee

Mike has been involved in Galeed House for over 20 years. He has helped run lots of different clubs and enjoys meeting people from so many backgrounds. He is a teacher and lives in Rotherham.
